Το παράρτημα της Ανωτάτης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών Αθηνών

Ο Μόλυβος έχει ανεπτυγμένη πνευματική και καλλιτεχνική κίνηση η οποία εκδηλώνεται με τη λειτουργία πινακοθήκης όπου εκτίθενται έργα ζωγραφικής εντόπιων και ξένων καλλιτεχνών, με τη λειτουργία του συνεδριακού κέντρου (πρώην τζαμί) όπου πέραν των συνεδρίων γίνονται διαλέξεις και παρουσιάσεις έργων συγγραφέων, με τον ειδικά διαμορφωμένο χώρο στο εσωτερικό του κάστρου όπου οργανώνονται συναυλίες μουσικής και τραγουδιού και απλές θεατρικές παραστάσεις και βεβαίως με τη λειτουργία του παραρτήματος της Ανωτάτης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών Αθηνών.

Το πιο πάνω παράρτημα λειτουργεί στο Μόλυβο εδώ και μερικές 10ετίες. Εδώ κατά τους θερινούς μήνες έρχονται σπουδαστές της Σχολής από την Αθήνα και άλλες περιοχές της Ελλάδος ακόμη και αλλοδαποί οι οποίοι κάτω από την καθοδήγηση καθηγητού επιδίδονται στη ζωγραφική.

Η Σχολή στεγάζεται σε ένα πανέμορφο και πολύ ενδιαφέρον αρχιτεκτονικά, τόσο για την εξωτερική του όψη όσο και την εσωτερική του διαρρύθμιση, παραδοσιακό οίκημα των αρχών του 19ου αιώνα, το Αρχοντικό Κομνηνάκη Κράλλη. Όπως συνηθιζόταν την εποχή εκείνη, οι χώροι υποδοχής του ήταν τοποθετημένοι στον δεύτερο όροφο και ήταν διακοσμημένοι, τοίχοι και οροφές ,με πολύ ενδιαφέρουσες παραστάσεις και διακοσμητικά στοιχεία ζωγραφισμένα από λαϊκούς ζωγράφους της εποχής. Η επίσκεψη του παρουσιάζει πολύ ενδιαφέρον μιας και αποτελεί δείγμα της κοινωνικής και οικονομικής ζωής του Μολύβου στις αρχές του 19ου αιώνα, τουλάχιστον του εύπορου τμήματος του πληθυσμού.

Το κατά τα προαναφερθέντα ενδιαφέρον περιβάλλον διαμονής των σπουδαστών σε συνδυασμό με τις ομορφιές του παραδοσιακού οικισμού του Μολύβου που στεφανώνεται από το παλιό γενοβέζικο κάστρο του, και το ειδυλλιακό τοπίο του περιβάλλοντος χώρου βοηθούν χωρίς άλλο τους σπουδαστές να εμπνέονται και να εκδηλώνουν αυθόρμητα το ταλέντο τους.
